R. Laird Elliott is President of Winfund Software Corp. and its OPUGEN division. Winfund Software Corp. specializes in software development for financial, investment and insurance professionals and is a leading provider of mutual fund dealer and life brokerage agency back office software. OPUGEN is our new brand for our consulting and technology business that leverages our own and select third party capabilities.
After graduating in 1969 with a BA degree from University of Toronto, Laird joined the public accounting firm Deloitte Touche, where he achieved his Chartered Accountant designation. Laird went on to form his own public accounting firm in 1976 where he specialized in audit, corporate taxation and business consultation for small North American corporations for over 20 yrs.
In 1993 Laird along with partners formed a mutual fund dealership. Laird was instrumental in growing this dealership to over 300 advisors. In 1996 the firm merged with a large financial institution. Laird served as the President and CEO of this merged firm for three years. During this time Laird was an active member of the Mutual Fund Dealer community and founded and Chaired the Federation of Independent Mutual Fund Dealers, an organization that represents mutual fund dealers and continues to play an important role as the voice of mutual fund dealers in an ever changing industry.
Laird joined M.R.S. in 2003 after many and varied consulting assignments in the Mutual Fund Dealer industry and was appointed President of Winfund Software Corp. shortly thereafter. Laird was appointed to the Board of Directors of all M.R.S. companies in 2009.
